Hello and I’m still alive

Hello. Sorry that I have been gone for so long but in January I found out that I am indeed allergic to beer. Yep, Beer. That explains the severe, almost migraine like headaches or the extreme nausea and me becoming horribly sick. I’ve been sticking away from beer and consequently away from this blog but that doesn’t mean I cannot share the love with others or talk about beer that my brother and I enjoy.  I unfortunately cannot drink beer like I really want to.

Kostritzer Beer

Hello! In my last post, I explained that for over a month I have been dealing with a lot of health issues.  We thought I was gluten intolerant or had celiac disease.  I took a bloodtest and nope; I apparently had a bacterial infection in my small intestine.  I finished some heavy duty antibiotic and I’m finally getting back to normal.  I’m eating more and I am now drinking alcohol again.  After this experience, my respect for people with celiac disease has tripled and then some.  If you have celiac disease, the structure you have to have with your diet is insane; my heart goes out to anyone who deals with that crap.

For my first post in a long time, I bring you…Kostritzer Oktoberfest Beer.  This was a great beer. It was nice amber color.  I love beer that goes with pizza perfectly; for me that’s the best.  I did not find this to be a heavy beer.  When I say heavy, I do not necessarily mean that it is a dark beer.  Some beer just feel heavy when it hits your stomach, this was a great, easy to digest beer.

How I miss beer!

Hello to anyone who reads my tiny little beer blog!

I’ve been away for a bit because of health issues.  I’ve been staying away from beer because I might be gluten intolerant or have celiac disease. As we know, beer is wheat and if you are gluten intolerant you cannot have beer.  So, if anyone can suggest gluten free beers, I would greatly appreciate it.  I recently bought two gluten free beers and hopefully I will review it soon.

Seriously i do.

Thought of the day…

I went to Brooklyn Ale House this past Sunday and had a Heineken Dark and an everything bagel with scallion bacon cream cheese.  I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a fantastic combination.

Spaten Oktoberfest

Great beer. One of the best I’ve tried.  It’s so German; nice and strong. I didn’t find it bitter or leave a weird after taste.  Sorry for the cell phone pic but it gets the point across.

I couldn’t agree with this statement even more.
